US #72 (1861) 90c Used XF+ EFO Guide Line LR Corner 1/200 Extremely Rare
EFO: Guide line LR corner. Note: These stamps were cut from a sheet of 200 stamps into individual sheets (panes) of 100 stamps. The guide lines were placed at the edge of the sheets, midway between the sheets to help the person who was cutting the sheets. (see picture #4) Therefore to cut this sheet of 200 stamp s into 2 sheets of 100 stamps, there would have been only 2 Guide Lines. This Guide Line is extremely uncommon and would only occur in 1/100 stamps (one per sheet), but because of the position of the guide lines. , each guide line is quite unique and would only occur 1/200 stamps. Note: At the out break of the Civil War in May of 1861 the Postmaster General ordered all the postmasters to return all unused stamps to Washington D. New stamps were issued on August 1861 with new picture designs on the stamps. This 90 cent stamp was printed for special mailings (usually for overseas mailings) and were not used very much. Making the 90 cent quite rare. A 90 cent stamp (like this one) with Guide Line would be extremely rare. Please see condition remarks and photos.
