Extremely Rare World Class VLG Blue Staurolite Cross/Fairy Stone/Fairy Cross 689
This is an Extremely Rare "World Class" Very Large Light Blue/Grey St. Andrews Staurolite Cross/Fairy Stone with Red/Brown Almandine Garnets from Stuart, Va. There is some light red/brown/tan on this stone. The main crystal measures just under 1 inch long x 7/8 inch wide x 5/8 inch thick.
The secondary crystal or cross measures just under 1 inch long x 7/8 inch wide x over 7/16 inch thick. This is a very large cross! There is a partial cross attached that measures about 3/4 inch long x 7/8 inch wide x 1/2 inch thick.
This specimen has "World Class" Symmetry, Museum Better to Great crystals, Incredible Nice Strong Lines, a Light Sprinkle of Nice Tiny Garnets, some nice light luster and some light translucence. Nice Coloring on this piece. There are some contacts on this specimen where it no doubt touched other crosses, but the overall appearance is World Class and the aesthetics are World Class as well. It weighs about a whopping 28.68 grams.
Incredibly Sharp, Beautifully Colored, Almost perfect, very large specimens like this are scarce. This specimen would greatly enhance any collection as there are few like it in the world! So just act like you're in a real store.

This stone has been meticulously cleaned and some gneiss has been removed, but if you handle it much, the blue crystals will absorb the oil and moisture from your hands, visibly darken, and turn a red/brown color because of the aluminum hydroxide in it which is used in antiperspirant and Calamine Lotion(absorbs urushiol oil of poison ivy and poison oak). Just wash it in Dawn dishwashing detergent and water and let dry.The stone will return to it's natural blue color.
