This was to be used as a pocket directory to bordellos, madams, and other red-light entrepreneurs of New Orleans' Storyville district at the beginning of the twentieth century. Organized principally by race, it is then broken down alphabetically with names and addresses of white and black prostitutes. This information is interleaved with full-page advertisements for bars, restaurants and courtesans, as well as whiskey, cigars and candy. The earliest guide appeared about 1896, and were produced annually from around 1900 to 1915.
The advertisements and all black ink used in this printing suggest that it was published in 1913. Please examine all photos carefully and note any wear or imperfections. I tried my best to photograph interior pages, however I didnt want to add any creases to the spine so some may look slightly out of focus. All printing is crisp and pages are clean. Feel free to message me with any questions.
