EXTREMELY RARE LVC 501XX 1955 - RIGID W30 L32. DEADSTOCK US MADE CONE MILLS DENIM. The Levis® Vintage Clothing 1955 501® Jean represents classic 1950s biker style and is similar to the one Marlon Brando wore in "The Wild One". This jean had an anti-fit in the seat, slightly fuller cut around the leg, and boxier silhouette. It was also the first to bear Levis® leather-like, paper Two-Horse Pull patch.
Additionally, the updated red tab is double-sided - another example of Levis® meticulous attention to detail. This version of the 501® still retains some classic features of its 1947 predecessor: belt loops as the only method of waist adjustment, hidden copper rivets on the back pockets, and a zinc button fly.
It is made with selvedge denim from Cone Mills of North Carolina - a Levis® brand partner for over 100 years. 12oz unsanforized Cone Mills Red Selvedge denim (14oz after wash). Shrink to Fit (5 to 10% shrinkage). "Anti fit" seat, full cut leg, boxy profile.
After soaking, these jeans will shrink 2" in the waist and 2-3" in length. Two back pockets with concealed rivets. Two Horse leather like patch. Big E double sided red Tab. On December 31st 2017 Cone Mills White Oak Plant closed its doors for the last time spelling the end of an era for US denim and in particular US denim for Levi's®.Cone Mills have supplied Levi's® since 1915 when a hand shake agreement made them exclusive suppliers of XX denim for their 501s®. Levi's® Vintage Clothing have now used up all remaining stock of Cone Mills denim so are now using Japanese denim. They have also moved production from the US to Turkey (where a lot of regular Levi's® range is already made).
There will be no more US made US denim Levis anytime soon if ever. Levi's Vintage Clothing 501XX 1955 W30 L32 MADE IN THE USA" is in sale since Sunday, February 14, 2021.
