This blue glaze game dish is extremely rare and is the only one known with this glaze. The color is a beautiful robins egg blue that doesnt photograph well. This game dish matches the twig handle basket weave game dish I have listed. Dating to the early 1800s, this is an extremely rare yellow ware form. The visual appearance of this game dish is striking with its detailed high relief molding.

The lid is finely detailed with raised relief rabbits and game birds lying on a bed of leaves and ferns. The handle is a crouching rabbit. The sides of the game dish is a molded basket weave design. This is a desirable size for a game dish, measuring 10 1/2 long, 3 high to the rim, and 5 ½ high to the top of the rabbit handle. The game dish is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs.

A similar yellow version of this game dish is shown in Lisa McAllisters Collectors Guide to Yellow Ware Book II on page 101. Is an exceptional piece of yellow ware for the advanced collector.
