Moving on my private collection I've had for many years. Blue Dot Chrysocolla cabochon in a very nice large size. Extremely rare material mined in Globe, Arizona, in the 1970s. For chrysocolla in quartz it is rare to see such defined stalactites resulting in a distinct orbicular pattern.
This material often remains as mineral specimens rather than being cut for jewelry purposes which makes this an even rarer offering. The GIA has confirmed with Raman analysis that the blue material is chrysocolla, the transparent to whitish areas are quartz, and the transparent cryptocrystalline areas are chalcedony. Truely a stunning collector example and would make striking and super rare jewellery.
Approximate size: 50mm x 24mm.
